"Everything's in here," Cygnelius said. "If Sha can't work with that, fire him. He's worthless."
"Thank you," Lysandro murmured. Cyg glared at the family of ducks under the bridge. Lysandro didn't deserve eye contact. "This could've been avoided if you'd accepted Faure's offer and turned on him, you know."
"Never," Lysandro said, eyes on the ducks. "He's a traitor."
"What of it, exile?"
"You misunderstand," Lysandro said. "He betrayed the man who raised me, the man who called him friend. That is - unconscionable."
Cygnelius realized, quite suddenly, he would risk his life for this man. Had unquestioningly been risking his life.
The migraine was immediate.
